Last Tuesday we were guests of the Adelaide Parks Rotary Club and along with Rotary Club of Eastwood shared breakfast at a fund raiser at the Royal Coach Motor Inn in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Association SA. Exiting Chief of SA Health, Vicki Kaminski was one of the guest speakers.
In addition, to Ms Kaminski’s address we saw the heart-warming video stories of those with CF who have had successful lung transplants along a presentation from the spouse of woman diagnosed with the condition at age 62 and their joint experiences at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. All of this was close to the hearts of Chris and Susan Gascoine. It’s a pity that some club members were unable to attend. We also learned that around 1 in every 4 is the carrier of the SF gene and how genetic tests for the condition should be compulsory. See chart:

Hands On Project This Saturday!

Calperum Station
I have always had a great time up at Calperum Station near Renmark. Over the weekend of 29th Jun – 1st Jul, RC Eastwood will be heading up there. Suzette and I intend to go. The activities include tree health surveys, water monitoring and lots of fellowship around the campfire and a glass of red. I invite members to come and join us. Let Elliot Dwyer ([email protected] ) and myself know if you would like to come, as they need to plan the bedding arrangements.
