From Acting President Colin Hill:

As well as welcoming Greg Schuetze back from his long term employer-funded working holiday in the USA, including free tickets to top line sporting events and trying out the local beer, of special note was the return of John Capoccia to our meeting after an extended absence – welcome back Greg and John, we’ve missed you.

Our guest speaker was Dr Amanda Ruler, representing the Medical Association for Prevention of War (MAPW), who made a special reference to the international banning of nuclear weapons in much the same way as was done with land mines several years ago.

As well as carrying out her responsibilities as an Adjunct Research Fellow at the University of SA School of Nursing and Midwifery and employed as the only practising PhD qualified nurse in SA, Dr. Amanda Ruler is the National Vice President of the Medical Association for Prevention of War.

With last Tuesday being the International Peace Day, it was a perfect opportunity to learn about MAPW’s work.

More information about MAPW is available at https://www.mapw.org.au/.
