From President Kirsty Stark:

Happy New Year everyone, and welcome to the second half of the Rotary Year!

I hope you all had a great Christmas after our final meeting of the year – the Christmas celebration in Nightingale Park.

Our first meeting back was an opportunity to look forward at our 2017 events. We have a lot coming up over the next six months, so the meeting was all about filling people in on our upcoming activities.

Our plans include:

Tour Down Under Marshalling – Wednesday 18th and Friday 20th January

We need all hands-on deck for this event (and would appreciate people taking on multiple shifts if possible). Please contact Ian Coat to find out your timeslot.

1000th Meeting – Tuesday 31st January

Our Club’s 1000th Meeting takes place on January 31st, and we will have some special events to celebrate. It will be a great opportunity to bring partners along for an enjoyable and relaxing morning.

Hutt Street Centre Meal Service – Monday 6th to Friday 10th February

To celebrate our 100th meeting, we will be providing 1000 meals for the homeless at Hutt Street Centre through their ‘Angel for a Day’ program. This consists of funding the daily breakfast and lunch service for five days in early February. Up to two members a day can assist with meal service, and there will be a roster at next week’s meeting for anyone who wishes to participate.

The Secret River Carpark Marshalling – 1st, 5th, 9th & 17th March

We have the opportunity to raise significant funds for our club by acting as carpark marshals for The Secret River, one of the major events of the upcoming Adelaide Festival. Magill Sunrise has been offered four shifts on the above dates, and will need 8 people per shift. Please contact Lindsay Davis for available timeslots.

Magill Sunrise Markets & Bunnings BBQs

Our regular Markets at the Campbelltown Library Carpark, as well as our Bunnings BBQs (in conjunction with the Norwood Club), will continue throughout the year.

9520 District Conference – 27th – 30th April

This year’s District Conference takes place in Mount Gambier with the theme ‘Jazz Up Rotary.’ Register here: http://rotary9520.org/SitePage/district-9520-conference-2017/registration-information

The Reel Event

Our annual Reel Event will once again take place in May. Stay tuned for details!

Event List

As you can see, we have a big year coming up! We’ve made a handy list of events taking place from January to March, so please print the below PDF and keep it in a handy place at home.

Welcome Back Mina! New Shower Block for the Homeless of Gloucester, UK

Due to the fickness of the English Weather, erstwhile Club President Mina Ward did not get a chance to Swim the English Channel, but she did manage a number of other long distance swims. Sponsorship helped the construction of a shower block for the homeless in Gloucester (below). Literally, Rotary – hands across the water.
