What is Rotary?

Rotary is a service organisation made up of 1.2 million people worldwide: neighbours, friends and community leaders who come together to create positive, lasting change in our own communities around the world.

Our differing occupations, cultures, and countries give us a unique perspective. Our shared passion for service helps us accomplish the remarkable.

Worldwide Membership

Every Rotarian is welcome – and encouraged – to attend any Rotary Club in the globe. This means ‘instant friends’ amongst active citizens in one’s own community and around the world.

How Does Rotary Work?

Our impact starts with our members — people who work tirelessly in our club, and clubs worldwide, to solve some of our communities’ toughest challenges. Our efforts are supported by Rotary International, our member association, and The Rotary Foundation, which turns generous donations into grants that fund the work of our members and partners around the world. Rotary is led by our members—responsible leaders who help to carry forward our organisation’s mission and values in their elected roles.

The Rotary Foundation

The Rotary Foundation is Rotary’s nonprofit charity that promotes world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. The Foundation is supported solely by voluntary contributions from people who share its vision of a better world

Polio Eradication

Although every Rotary club develops autonomous service programs in its own community, all Rotarians are united in a global campaign to eradicate polio.
