From President Kirsty Stark:

The Reel Event

A huge thank you to all club members for your efforts with The Reel Event. It was a fantastic day and everything ran very smoothly. We will be tallying the proceeds this week and will then know the total amount that will be going to the Hutt Street Centre, Eastern Adelaide Domestic Violence Service, the Adelaide International Youth Film Festival and our Rotary youth programs.

We also must acknowledge our amazing list of supporters, particularly Platinum Sponsor Paradise Motors, and Gold Sponsors Enva Financial Services and the Regal Theatre.

See Mark Thompson’s Dropbox link (or our Facebook page) for the photos from The Reel Event.

Meeting 1014

In the absence of our RYPEN students this morning, Kath McGuigan, principal of Mary Mackillop College, filled in as guest speaker, giving us her insight into the independent school system in South Australia, and the discussions that are taking place around transitioning the beginning of high school in South Australia to Grade 7 instead of Grade 8. Kath answered a lot of members’ questions, and had some interesting perspectives to share. Thanks Kath!

The Future of Magill Sunrise

A letter to the Board from Charter Member Pauline Hill was the stimulus for all members to think about the future of Magill Sunrise and how we might adapt our club structure, with possibilities including a switch to evening meetings, a combination of morning and evening events, less meetings per month, etc. This will be an ongoing discussion, and we want to hear all members’ perspectives and suggestions, but it was great to have Pauline Hill raise the issue as a starting point. Thank you, Pauline.
