Do you know a young person with a passion for the environment? The Health of the River (HOTR) Youth Forum is an exciting opportunity for Year 9 and 10 students to develop their understanding of ecology, sustainability and the natural environment.
The forum is a one-week residential education program held at Calperum Station, near Renmark in South Australia’s Riverland. Through hands-on learning and field-based experiences, students gain valuable insights into environmental management, river ecosystems and conservation practices.
HOTR is delivered by the experienced educators at Calperum as part of the broader Ecology in Action program, which provides students with unique opportunities to learn in a real-world environment.
Rotary clubs across District 9510 play an active role in supporting the program. Clubs sponsor student participants, coordinate transport to and from Renmark, and assist with catering and on-site support throughout the week.
The program has a strong track record of encouraging young people to think critically about environmental challenges and to become informed advocates for the future health of our river systems.
