From President Ian Coat:

We had an amazing variety of young guests and their families today.

RYPEN

We welcomed Zahra and Farishta from Mary MacKillop College who were sponsored by our Club to attend the recent Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) weekend. Zahra and Farishta spoke very highly about their attendance at the RYPEN.

The girls have had their confidence boosted, especially in the area of public speaking. They demonstrated this newly developed skill by speaking very clearly and confidently to our quite large group about how they see that their attendance at RYPEN will help them in the future. We also had the honour of presenting to them, their awards for participation of RYPEN.

Giffoni Film Festival Attendees

We also welcomed Mieka, Kaiwern, and Jacinda whose attendance we part sponsored for the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy. The girls were selected as local ambassadors through the Adelaide International Youth Film Festival and told us a little of their experience. We also welcomed Chloe Gardner who is the CEO and Artistic Director of the Adelaide Festival.

RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)

Our last speaker was Lia Lawrie, promoting the RYLA program in our District. Lia spoke to the Club and our guests about the exciting opportunities that RYLA provides. She urged us to approach 18-25 years olds that we know and ask them if they would like to become part of the RYLA action. NYSF

We also welcomed Isabella; our nominee for next year’s National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) in Canberra. Isabella and her mother were beneficiaries of the diversity of our support to youth programs.

Next Meeting: Tues 5th September (first Tuesday of the Month).

We will have a Club Assembly that day to discuss our upcoming projects and fellowship activities. It will be a special day, because we will be inducting our new member, Romeo.

Fellowship

As part of our transition to two meetings a month, it is important that we have additional fellowship activities that bring us together. I ask that you all think about events you would like to be part of and let Julie Carman and Ian Coat know, so that we can plan them into the calendar.
