MEETING 1216: NEW DAWN IN UKRAINE

The last two breakfast meetings revealed some of the ways Rotary connects us with our world. In the first meeting this month, we learnt about the challenges of being a new local organisation (Catlin Wines) – which our club would love to work with. This week we learnt about the challenges of being in a … Continue reading MEETING 1216: NEW DAWN IN UKRAINE

MEETING 1215: LOCAL BUSINESS CATLIN WINES

It's the dream of many people: buy a vineyard, kick back on the porch, relax with a glass of your own wine as you watch the sun set. However, today’s meeting confirmed there is much more to successful winemaking – involving an absolute passion and commitment to the industry. RCMS Bulletin 1215

We're at about the half way mark of our Club Strategic Plan and it was time to have a check-in to see how we're going and see if we needed to make some changes. The good news was that we're smashing most of our strategic targets and the club is running really well. What to … Continue reading MEETING 1214: STRATEGIC PLAN REVIEW

This morning we were very honoured to assist the Magill RSL Sub-Branch South Australia conduct their very moving and poignant Anzac Day commemorations. Starting with the dawn service where the new seats at The Gums Memorial were well used, to serving the breakfast cooked beautifully by our good friends at Lions Club of Athelstone-Rostrevor, then enjoying the camaraderie at the RSL and the time honoured tradition of Two-Up. This year WWII veteran Mario Giovine at the tender age of 100 showed us all how Two-Up is played by throwing heads so many times we lost count! Others assisting today included a Catafalque Party from 7th Battalion RAR based at Edinburgh, Campbelltown SES, Campbelltown St Johns, Kensington & Norwood Band, Local Scouts, Guides and schools, and businesses who support the RSL. Sincere thanks to Ian McGillick from Rotary Club of Campbelltown for providing these great photos and videos for us to share. Lest we forget. ... See MoreSee Less

We're a few days late, but this is still worth sharing. The incredible work and philanthropy of Jonas Salk changed the lives of millions of people. Our Rotary Club, along with thousands of others worldwide, contribute to the RoEnd Polio Nowo Now program, which has brought Polio to the threshold of elimination. Rotary continues the true spirit that Salk set when he released the Polio vaccine royalty free 70 years ago. A true hero to be remembered. This morning, we discussed Rotary International's plan to shorten the 4 Way Test, removing the 1st test, noting this reflects the lack of importance placed on truth in today's society. And yes ... it was an April Fool's joke ... See MoreSee Less
