Summary of the District Conference: Broken Hill

Ian Coat and Mark Thompson and their spouses, Suzette and Mari attended the recent District Conference at Broken Hill and tag teamed in an excellent summary of the program. Both agreed that the content of the Conference was first class and the Rotary Club of Somerton Park and DG Kim Harvey are to be congratulated for their preparation and presentation. Andrew Schmidt, Broken Hill ABC Morning Breakfast host was emcee and was very entertaining and humorous.

One theme that overlapped with some of the presenters was Mental Health and Drought. Our club has already donated $1,000 to Rotary Draught Relief, but there’s nothing stopping individuals who want to help the mental health of farmers and graziers by donating to this worthy cause. See link below.

The Saturday Night Glitz and Glamor Ball featured ‘The Pricilla Show’, which produced many laughs. Tables were all decorated with glitzy shoes, which later sold for $10 a pair.

Next Year’s Conference: Mildura

Next Year’s District Conference will be held at Mildura. Ian is seen holding the promo for next year’s Conference at Mildura while Mark is holding the program for Broken Hill. The District Conference is one of the best events to revive the drooping Rotary Spirit and reminds you why you are a member of Rotary.

Quiz Night: Little Bang Brewing Co.

Greg arranged a couple of tables for fun and games last Thursday evening at the Little Bang Brewery Co in Henry Street, Stepney, just behind Sportsmed. We tried some new beers and had a few laughs participating in their Quiz Night, sadly with mixed results. Thanks Greg, for organising this informal evening.

Sunday Market

The late breaking news in this Bulletin means that we can report that the Sunday Market was blessed with beautiful weather and was well attended. The Easter raffle was also well patronised; friends Bec and Rachel were the joint lucky winners.
