From President Mina Ward:

Sky Kim and Sarah Brodie re-told their experiences from the recent RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) at this week’s meeting. Both girls broke into laughter as they recalled group experiences such as playing capture the flag in a glow stick lit forest as well as making new friends.

RYPEN provides young people aged 14-17 with an opportunity to develop valuable leadership skills. The weekend long program sees them engage with like-minded people, while having fun and learning new skills in areas such as problem solving and public speaking. In addition to the theory they had the opportunity to put their new skills into practice through debate and physical activity. This year saw the first Sunraysia RYPEN, as well as the metro one. Both programs where a great success and will run again in April 2017.

Thanks to Sky and Sarah for their fantastic talks, and to their mum’s for transporting their girls. A special thanks to Sarah’s mum who celebrated her birthday that morning.

It has been a crazy couple of weeks in the world of Magill Sunrise, what with the club’s 20th birthday, The Reel Event and of course friend of the club, Susan Gascoine completing her mammoth walk from Renmark to Adelaide. Susan has raised over $15,000 as well as huge awareness about Cystic Fibrosis. A huge congratulations to Susan, and her husband Chris- great team effort!!

Just a reminder to anyone wanting to attend Christine and Wayne’s social gathering at their new house on 13th June, please let me know by 5th June. Thanks.

Next meeting will be a club assembly – watch your email inboxes for details!
