From President Kirsty Stark:

In lieu of our regular Tuesday meeting, a group of Magill Sunrise members met at the Belgian Beer Cafe for a Fringe social event. This included a selection of 4 comedians performing diverse stand-up acts, followed by dinner in the restaurant downstairs.

Although I was only able to attend the dinner, I’m informed by the Bulletin Editor that the comedy acts ‘were as funny as all f…’. It was great to spend some time with club members outside of “official” club duties.

Tip from Editor: take care when ordering a ‘large’ beer at the Belgian Beer Café as they are not kidding.

Marie’s Quiz Night

Sue Hector and I met with exchange student Marie Hermanns and members of the Norwood Rotary club to discuss Marie’s upcoming Quiz Night. She has decided to put the funds raised towards Shelterbox, and a Shelterbox will be displayed on the night.

Below is some information, and it would be great if all club members could consider putting a table of friends together, or joining forces to support Marie. Let me know if you are available to put a table together, or to assist with set up or pack down on the day.

Date: 6th May
Venue: Hungarian Club on Osmond Tce, Norwood
Time: 6.30pm arrival for a 7pm prompt start until 10pm.
Cost: $20 per person
Format: 6 rounds of quiz questions split in to 3 lots of 2 rounds. In between each round will be a fun game. The interval break will include more games for those who wish to join in and a silent auction. It will be BYO nibbles with full bar service, at cost price to the Hungarian Club so drinks won’t be too expensive.

Please consider getting a group of your friends/family/colleagues together to make up a table of 8-10 people who will be seated at round tables for optimum inclusion. If you are coming by yourself or with 1, 2, 3, 4 or so friends please let me know so we can join you together with another member who is doing similar ie you and 2 friends are coming and another member has themselves and 4 friends then we can make up a table of 8 that way and so on. Please start letting me know if you have a whole table coming or how many you will have attending so we can start putting people together on tables and advise you what table number you will be sitting at.

Secret River Carpark Marshalling

Tonight (Friday) sees our final session of carpark marshalling for the Adelaide Festival’s Secret River performance. Thanks to all members and friends of the club who have helped to make this a success and raise both funds and awareness for Rotary! Special thanks to Lindsay Davis for acting as our club liaison for this activity, and to everyone who has taken on marshalling and ‘team leader’ roles on the night. See you on Tuesday!
