From President Ian Coat:

Our guest speaker today was Clinton Carty, who runs the well-known organic produce shop, ‘Organically Grown’, 85B St Bernard’s Road, Rostrevor, at the junction with Arthur Street.

Clinton told us how his interest in organic food began and how his need to earn money led to him buying out the failing business that he had been working for.

Clinton has grown (pun intended) the business to a successful venture and describes it as a community as well as a business as he knows all his growers and his customers. His business has preceded the wave of popularity for organic produce, and other stores have arisen that try to emulate his model.

Clinton described his passion around the quality, the flavour and the health benefits of organic foods. Clinton also owns a fruit block in Queensland and commutes there every 6 weeks.

Board Report

Two key items from the Board this month include:

(a) We are deferring the franchise of The Reel Event (outsourcing to other Rotary Clubs) until next year
when appropriate licensing conditions can be agreed up front with the movie producers.

(b) We are offering Hectorvillle Sports and Recreation Club as $100 Service Above Self Award for a
deserving member of the Club who embodies service to the community.

ICAC Inquiry

There is now going to be a ‘Corruption Inquiry’ into our Lucky Card Draw since Club Sergeant Mark
Thompson, manipulated our recent Guest Speaker to pick Mark’s own card. Mark then unashamedly took
the money.

Eastern Adelaide Domestic Violence Service

Alison Menaud from Eastern Adelaide Domestic Violence Service was our Guest Speaker last week. As it
turned out, the cheque that we presented to her was incorrectly endorsed, so club member Mark Thompson
dropped off another cheque to Alison along with Mark’s unwanted Flat Screen TV. Thanks to our donation
Alison can now start filling more clutter (as seen in the shot below) into a new shed.

Fellowship: Combined Services Dinner

We have 8 members attending The Campbelltown Council Combined Services Dinner on Tuesday 24th

will be invoiced later for the event. Remember that doors open at 6:30pm for a 6:45pm sharp start.

Weekly Challenge

This week is International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, so you are asked to donate food or cash to your
local charity.

Next Meeting

Helping Hands Project.
