From Acting President Ian Coat:

In the absence of President Kirsty, Ian Coat was acting President and Chair at Tuesday morning’s meeting, ably supported by Club Sergeant, Mark Thompson who was also ‘guest’ speaker’.

Mark’s ‘Behind the Badge’ covered his ‘early years’ and entertained us with his Family History in the Salisbury area, some of his experiences while serving in SAPOL and the Australian Army as well a few sporting achievements. Some of Mark’s anecdotes can best be summed up by quoting from him, ‘Truth can be strange than fiction’.

Fringe Fellowship Event

We are planning a fellowship event at the Fringe on Friday 8th March at the Belgian Beer Club. You can come and have dinner before the show, or just attend the show. Kirsty recommends the $10 Comedy Bonanza, which has a variety of performers, which starts at 6:00 PM. The ‘meal and show’ package is $31.

NMHS “Rotary Service Above Self Awards”

Last year Siony represented the Club at NMHS Year 10 ‘Rotary Service Above Self Awards’. Photos of the event have finally been sent to Siony. She is seen here with awardee, Michael Kassara and in a group shot standing next to Vincent Tarzia, Member for Hartley.

Save the Date for the Reel Event: Sunday 21st May

The Club has decided to hold this year’s The Reel Event on a Sunday, 3pm for 4pm, to see whether a weekend time slot will help us to attract a bigger crowd. Please put Sunday the 21st May in your diaries, and we will allocate roles and responsibilities at next week’s Club Assembly, as well as hand out posters ready for promotion.

Tickets can be booked at: trybooking.com/oqxc
